CHARGED WITH MURDER: FOUND NOT GUILTY AFTER JURY TRIAL

RI MURDER LAWYER

RI CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEYS EARN NOT GUILTY IN MURDER CASE:

Client was charged with First Degree Murder by Providence Police after client was seen on video shooting and killing another man outside a South Providence nightclub. If convicted, client faced a double-life sentence. After his arrested, client immediately hired Attorney Noah Kilroy and Attorney Angela Lawless to defend him. After reviewing all of the evidence in the case, Attorney Kilroy and Lawless determined that there was a viable self-defense claim that could be made and proceeded to trial.

At trial, Attorney Kilroy handled the cross-examination of the lead detective on the case. Despite the entire shooting being caught on video, Attorney Kilroy was able to elicit testimony which showed that there were oversights and missteps in the detective’s investigation. These oversights and missteps cast doubt on the “working theory” of Providence Police that this was an intentional murder rather than in self-defense.  Attorney Lawless then handled the direct examination of client in which the testimony and true intent of the client to save his own life on the night in question was put into evidence.

After a few hours of deliberation, the jury came back with the unanimous verdict of Not Guilty on the counts of First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Murder and Voluntary Manslaughter. Client is now home with his family.
